The group stage has passed and we are less than a day away from the main event of the biggest gaming tournament in history. With a prize pool reaching over $20 million, one of the 16 remaining teams will be taking home over $8 million and the right to call themselves the best Dota 2 team in the world.
In the upper bracket from Group A is OG, EG, Wings, and Alliance. On top of Group B is the team with the best record in the tournament so far, EHOME, followed by hopefuls DC, Newbee, and MVP Phoenix. While the top eight teams in the tournament are safe from elimination the first day of the event, half of the bottom eight teams in the lower bracket will be going home. From group A: TNC, NàVi, LGD, and Escape, and from Group B: Fnatic, Secret, Liquid, and VGR. To make matters even more difficult for the lower bracket teams, they will be playing in a best of one where even the slightest mistake could cost them millions.
The first matchup of the day is a Bo3 series between OG and MVP Phoenix followed by DC vs. Wings, followed by the four lower bracket matchups: TNC vs. VGR, Secret vs. LGD, Fnatic vs. Escape, and NàVi vs. Liquid respectively.
